Question 178013
Distance(d) equals Rate(r) times Time(t) or d=rt; r=d/t and t=d/r
Let t=number of hours since 10AM
And let d=distance from the end of the trail
From 10am to 12 noon you have walked 6-2=4 miles
So your rate (r)=4/2 = 2 mph
So, our linear equation would be:
d=6-2t

CK
If t=3, then d=0 end of trail
if t=2, then d=6-4=2 mi from end of trail
if t=0, then d=6 mi from end of trail

Hope this helps---ptaylor
