Question 24594
{{{V = s^3}}}
{{{729 = s^3}}}

Do you happen to know what number you can cube and get 729? Do you have a calculator? If so, you can take the cube root of 729. That is {{{ root(3,729)}}}.

If you are NOT allowed to use calculators, then you will have to start cubing numbers, like {{{1^3= 1}}}, {{{2^3=8}}}, {{{3^3=27}}}, and so on, then try {{{10^3 = 1000}}}. OOPS!! That number is larger than 729, so back off and try 9! I think you will find that {{{9^3= 729}}}, so the answer you need is 9 cm. Final answer!

R^2 at SCC

P.S. The calculator is a LOT easier, if your teacher will allow you to use it on big numbers like this!! Tell them R^2 at SCC likes calculators!!
