Question 174679
The "slices" of the pie will be the marks, and the
bigger the mark, the bigger the slice.
That's the 1st rule- the 2nd rule is that the
slices must fill up the pie- there can't be any
leftover slices that don't stand for a mark.
--------------------------------------------------
How do you do this? Let's say you have 9 marks
Let's say this is the list:
98
81
77
68
66
66
65
61
59
----
The next step is to add up the marks.
The total is
641
This represents the entire pie. Now make a list of the
fraction of the pie that each mark represents
98/641
81/641
77/641
68/641
66/641
66/641
65/641
61/641
59/641
---------
Ok, now let's assume you have a protractor and you can put
the center of the protractor on the center of a circle and
mark the degrees of any slice you want
The whole pie chart is 360 degrees. Now the last step is to
make a list of the degrees that each fraction represents:
(98/641) x 360
(81/641) x 360
(77/641) x 360
(68/641) x 360
(66/641) x 360
(66/641) x 360
(65/641) x 360
(61/641) x 360
(59/641) x 360
--------------
As an example, take the 4th entry, (68/641) x 360.
Doing the math, that equals 38.19 degrees. Just get
as close to that as you can with a protractor.
You'll find that you fill up the pie chart with marks
