Take this example

All you have to do is divide x^2/x=X, you then put that on top above the correct exponented column. then    you take your solution (x) and multiply it by the divisor {{{(x+1)}}}. You put that underneath the {{{x^2}}} and the x. You subtract those two then bring the 1 down then you follow those steps. If you need to see it then go to this website:
