Question 172896
Three workers pick 66 bushels of apples in a day. One of the workers is three times more productive than the second worker and twice as productive as the third worker. How many bushels did the second most productive worker pick?

An equation that represents this situation is the following where x is the productivity of the first worker.

x + x/3 + x/2 = 66
6/6 x + 2/6x + 3/6x = 66
11/6 x = 66
x = 36

If x=36, the first worker picked x or 36 bushels, the second one picked x/3 or 12 bushels, and the third picked x/2 or 18 bushels.
