change the mixed number to an improper fraction and invert the fraction your dividing by and multiply it by the improper fraction.
:
4 and 1/5 is the same as (20/5)+(1/5)=21/5 or you can take the whole number in
:
the mixed number like this one and multiply it by the denominator of the
:
fraction and add the numberator all over the denominator. In our 4 and 1/5 case
:
4 times 5 which is 20 +1 all over 5 is 21/5. you can do it either way.
:
once you have it in this form lets say your dividing 4 and 1/5 by 3/4
:
{{{4(1/5)/(3/4)}}}...you would change mixed number to a fraction 21/5
:
{{{(21/5)/(3/4)}}}.........now invert 3/4 to 4/3 and multiply it by 21/5
:
{{{(21/5)(4/3)}}}={{{84/15}}} now simplfy {{{28/5}}} or re write into a mixed
:
number....5 and 3/5.
