Question 23729
To "undo" a square root, you are correct! You must SQUARE both sides! However, once you DO square both sides, the answers that you get MUST be checked because there is the chance of EXTRANEOUS ROOTS!! I'm curious about your choice of capital N compared with lower case n's in the rest of the problem. Is this a different variable or did you mean to use the same n in the entire problem? In algebra, variables ARE case sensitive, so be careful about that.

What you wrote is {{{sqrt(N) = n^2 +6n-18}}}

Squaring both sides would give you: {{{N = (n^2 +6n-18)^2 }}}

Are you sure that's what you want to do??
