Question 159963
</pre><font size=4><b>
Remember the following eqns:
Baisc eqn: {{{Speed=distance/time}}}, {{{S=d/t}}}
Also the folowwing eqn we get:
{{{d=d[1]+d[2]}}} EQN 1
We are ask for the total time when both cars are 330 miles apart. So,
As per reference to our basic eqn:
{{{t=d/(S[1]+S[2])}}}
{{{t=330mi/(60mi/hr+50mi/hr)=330cross(mi)/110(cross(mi)/hr)}}}
{{{t=3hrs}}}, ANSWER
To check, in reference to the basic eqn again:
{{{d[1]=S[1]*t=60mi/cross(hr)*3cross(hrs)=180miles}}} Car 1
{{{d[2]=S[2]*t=50mi/cross(hr)*3cross(hrs)=150miles}}} Car 2
Then as per EQN 1:
{{{d=d[1]+d[2]}}}
{{{330mi=180mi+150mi}}}
{{{330mi=330mi}}} They are this apart after 3 hours
Thank you,
