Question 21832
The pattern to find the next number is to divide a given number by -3, or perhaps it would be better to think of multiplying by {{{-1/3}}}. This is called a Geometric Progression (or Series), where there is a common ratio from one number to the next.

{{{12*(-1/3) = -4}}}

{{{(-4)*(-1/3)= 4/3}}}

{{{(4/3)*(-1/3) = -4/9}}}

{{{ (-4/9)*(-1/3) = 4/27}}}

{{{ (4/27)*(-1/3) = -4/81 }}}
