Question 148569

Graph: y >= x^2 - 5
:
Just like you do any graph:
There is no middle term in this equation so the vertex is x=0, use x=-3 to x=+3
:
For example: x = -3
y = -3^2 - 5
y = +9 - 4
y = +4
:
Substitute for x and find y, plot these values:
 x | y
-------
-3 |+4
-2 |-1
-1 |-4
 0 |-5
+1 |-4
+2 |-1
+3 |+4
:
It should look like this
;
{{{ graph( 300, 200, -5, 5, -8, 8, x^2-5) }}}
:
Shade the area at and above the graph line, note that for all values of x: y =>-5
