Question 146426
I am confused on how to solve this, can you please help? Thanks!

{{{(3-v)/(v-8)-(4v-1)/(8-v)}}}

The denominators {{{v-8}}} and {{{8-v}}} are
reversed differences. So we must first change
one of the differences,

{{{8-v}}}

Write the second term first and the first term second:

{{{-v+8}}}

Factor out {{{-1}}}

{{{-1(v-8)}}}

or

{{{-(v-8)}}}

Now replace {{{8-v}}} by {{{-(v-8)}}}

{{{(3-v)/(v-8)-(4v-1)/(8-v)}}}

becomes

{{{(3-v)/(v-8)-(4v-1)/(-(v-8))}}}

The second term becomes positive:

{{{(3-v)/(v-8)+(4v-1)/(v-8)}}}

The denominators are the same so
combine the numerators over the
common denominator.

 {{{(3-v+4v-1)/(v-8)}}}

 {{{(3v+2)/(v-8)}}}
