Question 2509
If we want to know which ratio is bigger or smaller, we can find it as below:-

  A : B and C : D are the two ratios.

The same can be written in the following way:

{{{A/B}}} and {{{C/D}}} i.e. in the fractional form.

If "the numerator of the first ratio multiplied by the denominator of the
second ratio" is bigger than the "the numerator of the second ratio multi- plied by the denominator of the first ratio", then the first ratio is
bigger and vice versa. i.e. taking the above, if A*D > C*B, the A:B greater.
If A*D < C*B, then C:D is greater. I hope this clear now. Now taking the
  problem,

  35.00 : 1.40 and 48.00 : 1.44 Applying the above, we get

  35.00*1.44 and 48.00*1.40
= 50.40 and 67.20 So 50.40 < 67.20
= the second ratio 48.00 : 1.44 is greater. Answer.
