Now, if we used this in the quadratic formula, {{{x = (-b +- sqrt( b^2-4*a*c ))/(2*a) }}} , we would get a negative square root, which by definition causes the equation to have no real roots. (The solutions will consist of two complex numbers because of the +/- and the discriminant not equaling 0.)
