Question 140903
We apply "Boyle's Law" - the relationship of pressure and volume given by formula, P1V1=P2V2 ------- eqn 1
Given: V1= 6cu.m.
P1= 8kg/sqcm
P2= 12kg/sqcm
Find: V2=?
Going back eqn 1 and substituting the given,
(8)(6)=(12)(V2)
v2=4cu.m.
The answer is right. According to the Law when Pressure goes up, the Volume will decrease and vice versa. We see there's an increase in pressure from P1 to P2 (8 to 12), so volume will go down (as computed) from 6cu.m. to 4cu.m. (V1 to V2).
Cool!
Thank you,
