D = 3W........Equation 1
Two times the rivers depth is equal to six meters more
than twice it's width.
2D = 2W + 6.....Equation 2
Replace the D in Equation 2 with 3W from equation 1
2(3W) = 2W + 6
6W = 2W + 6
Collect like terms.
6W - 2W = 6
4W = 6
W = 6/4 or 1.5m
The depth is equal to 3(1.5) = 4.5m
Width is equal to 1.5m
