Question 998055: If three times the supplement of an angle is subtracted from seven times the complement of the angle, the answer is the same as that obtained by trisecting a right angle. Find the supplement.
I normally know what I am doing with these kinds of problems, however, I do not understand how to get the answer to this problem. However, I do know that the supplement is 165 because I checked the back of the book to see if I was correct, but I was incorrect, and I tried multiple times, but failed. Could someone please help me?

You can put this solution on YOUR website! Let a be the angle trisecting a right angle=90/3=30
complement = 90-a
supplement = 180-a
-------------------
7(90-a)-3(180-a)= 30
630-7a-540+3a= 30
90-4a= 30
-4a= -60
a= 15 degrees.
