Call their costs x and y respectively.
2x + 4y = 100
3x + 7y = 164
We are solving for y, so eliminate x...multiply the top equation by 3/2 and subtract it from the second equation and get
3x + 7y = 164
-(3x + 6y = 150)
y = 14 dollars (that must be a really fine orange.)
