One summer evening 1600 concert tickets were sold for the Fairmont Summer Jazz Festival. Tickets cost $25 for covered pavilion seats and $15 for lawn seats. Total receipts were $34,000. How many lawn and pavilion seats were sold?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Let  x  be the number of tickets sold for covered pavilion.
Then the number of tickets sold for lawn seats is  1600-x.

The balance equation is

25x + 15*(1600-x) = 34000.

Simplify and solve:

25x + 24000 - 15x = 34000,

10x = 34000 - 24000,

10x = 10000,

x = 10000%2F10 = 1000.

Answer.  1000  tickets for pavilion and  1600-1000 = 600  tickets for lawn seats were sold.
