Question 997109: Suppose Ben leaves his house and walks to meet Anna. Anna leaves her house 30monutes later and walks to meet Ben. Anna's walking speed is 3mph and Bens is 4mph. When they meet, Ben has walked twice as far as Anna, find the total distance that they walked.
I set the equation like this so far
Anna: D=3(t-30)
Ben: 2D=4t
But the solution said it is 9 miles and when I tried to substitute bens equation in Anna's I didnt get 9 miles I want to know how my setup incorrect and how to get the right answer.
Thank You

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
.
You are given the speeds in mph, that is in miles per hour.
Therefore, you need to use time in hours, not in minutes.
Good luck!
