You can put this solution on YOUR website!
1) LET THE NUMBER = X
SO, TWICE THE DIFFERENCE OF THE NUMBER AND 7 = 2(X-7)
AND 5 TIMES THE NUMBER = 5X
SO, 5 TIMES THE NUMBER INCREASED BY 1 = 5X+1
SINCE THEY ARE EQUAL,
2(X-7)= 5X+1
OR, 2X-14= 5X+1
OR, 2X-5X = 1+14
OR, -3X = 15
OR, X= - 15/3
OR, X= -5

CHECK :
2(X-7)
= 2*(-5-7)
= -10-14
= -24

5X+1
= 5(-5)+1
= -25+1
= -24
