j = k + 9
Five years ago, Jennifer was twice as old as Kristina.
j - 5 = 2(k - 5)

Let J = Jennifer's current age;
K = Kristina's current age.

Then

J = K + 9,
J - 5 = 2*(K-5).     <<<--- 5 years ago.
