You can put this solution on YOUR website!
d = number of dimes
n = number of nickels

10d + 5n = 230
d = n + 5

Substitute the second equation into the first.

10(n + 5) + 5n = 230
10n + 50 + 5n = 230
15n = 180
n = 12

The collector has 12 nickels.
