Rs.49 = 4900 paisa.
150 children
Girls - 'x'
Boys - 'y'
x + y = 150 ......(1)
50x + 25y = 4900.....(2)
Multiply (1) by 25
25x + 25y = 3750 .....(1)
50x + 25y = 4900 ......(2)
Subtract (1) from (2)
25x .....= 1150
x = 46
Substitute x = 46 into (1)
x + y = 150
46 + y = 150
y = 150 - 46
y = 104
There were 46 girls
and 104 boys.
