if the sum of two numbers is 50, than we have
x%2By=50......solve for x
y=50-y...........eq.1
if the larger number is 2 more than 5 times the smaller, we have
x=5y%2B2.....eq.2....now substitute 50-y for x and solve for y
50-y=5y%2B2
50-2=5y%2By
48=6y
48%2F6=y
highlight%28y=8%29
and the larger number is:
