On a number line, numbers farther to the right are greater than those on the left.

-2 < 1/3 < 4/5.

How can you use a number line to order -2, 4/5, 1/3

HOW? Look at your given numbers. Positive and Negative rational numbers. Negative numbers go to the left of the 0 and positive numbers go to the right of 0. You know where the -2 goes so no problem there. To find where the two fractions fit, you see they are less than 1 and greater than 0. Put them in place according to lowest common denominator, which is 15.

%284%2F5%29%283%2F3%29=12%2F15
and
%281%2F3%29%285%2F5%29=5%2F15
Now just put them in the correct positions.
