if a train is leaving a station at the same time that another train is arriving at the station, do they meet?

ignoring the stations ... when a train leaves T, an approaching train is half way between J and T

these trains will meet 1/4 of the way from T to J

at halfway, the train from T will meet the train from J that left at the same time as the train from T

at 3/4 of the way, the train from T will meet the train from J that left when the train from T was halfway

so the train from T will meet 3 trains from J
