Distribute the 3 across the parentheses in the LHS.
Add 6 to both sides.
Add 9x to both sides.
End up with the absurdity 0 = 2
The interpretation of this result is that the solution set is the empty set. In other words, a value for that makes the original equation a true statement does not exist.
