Recall that sin%5E2%28P%29 + cos%5E2%28P%29 = 1.

Let  x = sin(P).

Then

5x%5E2 = 12%2A%281-x%5E2%29.

Solve this quadratic equation.

5x%5E2 = 12%2A-12x%5E2%29,

17x%5E2 = 12,

x = +/- sqrt%2812%2F17%29.

Answer.  sin(P) = +/- sqrt%2812%2F17%29.
