It is possible because 72 and 108 are both divisible by 2 .
You can start by lining up in a row 54 such 2cm by 2cm squares along one of the 108cm long sides,
because 108cm%2F%222+cm%22=54 .
Then you would add more rows like that for a total of
72cm%2F%222+cm%22=36 rows.
