You can put this solution on YOUR website!
(1) +5x+-+3y+=1+
(2) +2x+%2B+y+=+8+
-------------------
Multiply both sides of (2) by +3+
and add the equations
----------------------
(1) +5x+-+3y+=1+
(2) +6x+%2B+3y+=+24+
----------------------
+11x+=+25+
+x+=+25%2F11+
-----------------
plug this result into (1)
(1) +5%2A%2825%2F11%29+-+3y+=1+
(1) +125+-+33y+=+11+
(1) +33y+=+114+
(1) +y+=+38%2F11+
---------------------
check:
(2) +6%2A%2825%2F11%29+%2B+3%2A%2838%2F11%29+=+24+
(2) +150+%2B+114+=+264+
(2) +264+=+264+
you can check other equation

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
5x - 3y = 1
2x + y = 8

5x - 3y = 1
6x + 3y = 24 {multiplied bottom equation by 3}
------------
11x = 25 {added the two equations}
x = 25/11 {divided each side by 11}

2x + y = 8 {bottom original equation}
2(25/11) + y = 8 {substituted 25/11, in for x, into bottom original equation}
50/11 + y = 8 {multiplied}
y = 8 - 50/11 {subtracted 50/11 from each side}
y = 88/11 - 50/11 {got common denominator}
y = 38/11 {subtracted}

x = 25/11 or 2 3/11
y = 38/11 or 3 5/11

(25/11, 38/11) is the point of intersection of the two lines as shown below
