Are you trying to write 5.2 meaning 5 and two tenths, or are you trying to represent , meaning 5 times 2?
If you mean 5.2, then the way you wrote it is correct, and the answer to your question is certainly not. 5.2 times x is not even close to 10 times x.
If you mean , the plain text representation that everyone understands is 5 * 2. In this case, 5 * 2 is 5 times 2 which is 10. Then 10 times x is most certainly equal to 10 times x regardless of what number you have chosen for x.
