Question 988273: if the rate of growth of a population continues at 2%, in how many years will the population double? Answer by Cromlix(4381) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Hi there,
100% + 2% = 102%
102% = 102/100 = 1.02
Using the original population as 2
and the doubled population as 4
2 x 1.02^x = 4
1.02^x = 4/2
1.02^x = 2
x log 1.02 = log 2
x = log 2/ log 1.02
x = 35 years
Proof:
2 x 1.02^35 = 3.999
Hope this helps :-)
