7 - 5y + 10 = 1 + 4y {used distributive property}
-5y + 17 = 1 + 4y {combined like terms}
17 = 1 + 9y {added 5y to each side}
16 = 9y {subtracted 1 from each side}
y = 16/9 {divided each side by 9}
