Question 98677: Find the equatuon of the line through (5, -5) and (8,1). I know find the slope, I use (y2-y1) divided by (x2-x1).
1-(-5) divided by 8-5
1+5 divided by 3
6 divided by 3
slope is 2.
But, then I'm stuck on how to proceed.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
SLOPE OF 2 THROUGH (5,-5) & (8,1)
NOW SUBSTITUTE ONE SET OF POINTS & THE SLOPE IN THE LINE EQUATION Y=mX+b & SOLVE FOR b
-5=2*5+b
-5=10+b
b=-5-10
b=-15
THUS THE EQUATION IS Y=2X-15
