You can put this solution on YOUR website! since the triangle is isosceles,the third side will be either 17 or 8.
perimeter when third side is 17 cm =17+17+8=42,>40.
so, third side cannot be 17.
then, the third side must be 8cm .
therefore ,third side=8cm.
