Question 98622: I have another problem with solving for x that I could use some help with please.
5/x+6 + 2/x^2+7x+6 = 3/x+1
I am pretty sure I do not have this answer correct Thanks for your help. Found 2 solutions by malakumar_kos@yahoo.com, stanbon:Answer by malakumar_kos@yahoo.com(315) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!
5/x+6 + 2/x^2+7x+6 = 3/x+1
factorising x^2+7x+6 we get (x+6)& (x+1)
taking L.C.M for (x+6) (x+1) & (x+6) we get (x+6)&(x+1)
[5(x+1)+2]/(x+6)(x+1) = 3/(x+1)
5x+5+2/(x+6) = 3 [cancelling (x+1) on both sides]
5x+7 = 3(x+6)
5x+7-3x-18 = 0
2x-11 = 0
2x = 11
x = 11/2
You can put this solution on YOUR website! 5/x+6 + 2/x^2+7x+6 = 3/x+1
------------
Factor where you can to get:
5/(x+6) + 2/(x+6)(x+1) = 3/(x+1)
Multiply thru by (x+6)(x+1) to get:
5(x+1) + 2 = 3(x+6)
5x+5 + 2 = 3x + 18
2x = 11
x = 11/2
