If x = 1 then 2x+1 means 2(1)+1 or 2+1 or 3.
If x = 10 then 2x+1 means 2(10)+1 or 20+1 or 21.
If x = 99 then 2x+1 means 2(99)+1 or 198+1 or 198.
So when x varies from number to number the expression 2x+1 varies
from number to number too.
When x varies from 1 to 10 to 99, 2x+1 varies from 3 to 21 to 198.
So we see that 2x+1 varies more intensly than x does.
