Igor's question dialog doesn't recognize TeX or LaTeX. You either have to use his proprietary equation rendering system or use plain text. For this problem I would recommend plain text.

If x = 10, the what is the value of (x * x) + ((-x)(-x))?

Every place you see an x, replace it with -10 and do the arithmetic.
