Begin by forming each into a fraction,
3 (1/2) = 7 / 2
4 (4/7) = 32 / 7
(7 / 2) * (32 / 7) = 16
note that the 7's cancel and 2 divides 32
the answer is 16

Hi there,
3 1/2 x 4 4/7
First of all urn the fractions
into improper (top heavy) fractions
3 1/2 = 3 x 2 + 1 = 7/2
4 4/7 = 4 x 7 + 4 = 32/7
7/2 x 32/7
The '7s' cancel out leaving
32/2 = 16
