Question 984875: Use the given conditions to write an equation for each line in point-slope form and slope-intercept form.
passing through (-4,2) and perpendicular to the line whose equation is y=1/3x+7?
you start with y=mx+b
2=1/3(-4)+b
2=-4/3+b add 4/3 to both sides
10/3=b
That as far as I can get because I do not understand the perpendicular rule? Thank you

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Given line, y=%281%2F3%29x%2B7
Find line perpendicular to the given line and passing through point (-4,2).

Perpendicular lines in the plane, each line having slopes m%5Ba%5D and m%5Bb%5D will fit the formula m%5Ba%5D%2Am%5Bb%5D=-1.

Can you solve the problem now given that fact?
