Question 984543: During a yard sale, Deb earned 3 times as much money as Andy. Ana made $10 more than twice what Deb made. Together they made $150. How many dollars did Deb make?
Answer by Timnewman(323) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Let D =Deb
A'=Andy
A=Ann
From your question,
D=3A'-----(1)
Ann=10+2D---(2)
but Deb+Ann+Andy=150---(3)
i.e,3A'+10+2D+A'=150
4A'+2D=140----(4)
put equ 1 in 4
4A'+2(3A')=140
4A'+6A'=140
10A'=140
A'=14
From equ 1 and 2
D=3(14)
D=$42
Ann=10+2(42)
=10+84
=$94
Ann got $94,
Deb got $42,
Andy got $14
HOPE THIS HELPS
Best regards,
