Please help me solve and explain how to solve the following problem:
Given two forces of 12Ib and 19Ib, forming an angle of 92°, find the magnitude
of the resultant force. (Round answer to the nearest pound.)

Since you didn't specify the direction of either force, just that they
are 92° apart, we might as well take one of the vectors to be at 0° and the
other at 92°. We'll take the 121 lb vector at 0° and the 191 lb vector at 92°.

 x-components                y-components
 121cos(0°) = 121            121sin(0°) = 0
191cos(92°) =  -6.666       191sin(92°) = 190.884
-------------------------------------------------
         Rx = 114.334                Ry = 190.884

 lb.

This is to show you that we could have switched the vectors and gotten the
same answer:

 x-components                y-components
 191cos(0°) = 191            191sin(0°) = 0
121cos(92°) =  -4.223       121sin(92°) = 120.926
-------------------------------------------------
         Rx = 186.777                Ry = 120.926

 lb.

The numbers used in the calculations are quite different when we switched the
vectors but the answers came out the same. This makes one believe that mathematics works!
