This has two different meanings, depending upon 8+x is all over 5 or just the x. Here are both solutions, catering to each one.
(8+x)/5=-2 if this is what is meant
Multiply both sides by 5.
8+x=-10
x= -18
Check
(8-18)/5= -2

If you meant 8 +(x/5)=-2
Then multiply everything by 5
40+x=-10
x=-50
Check 8+(-50/5)=-1
