You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Side of square=x
area=x^2
now have a rectangle, (x+3)(x-2) is area, or x^2+x-6
But x^2+x-6-8=x^2, since the second is 8 cm^2 larger than the first. The x^2 on each side cancel, and the constants are moved to the right.
x=14 cm
The side of the square is 14 cm
Area is 196 cm^2
rectangle is 17X12=204 cm^2, 8 cm more.
