You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Hi there,
a father is 28 yrs older than his daughter
F = 28 + D....(1)
in two years time he will be three times
as old as his daughter
F + 2 = 3(D + 2)....(2)
Replace F in Eq(1) with
(28 + D) from Eq(2)
F + 2 = 3(D + 2)
28 + D + 2 = 3(D + 2)
Collect like terms
30 + D = 3D + 6
D - 3D = 6 - 30
-2D = -24
Multiply both sides by -1
2d = 24
D = 12
Current ages.
Daughter = 12 yrs old
Father = 40 yrs old
Hope this helps:-)
