Question 982528: There are as many boys as girls in a class. If 2/5 of the boys and 1/2 of the girls go to school by bus, what fraction of the students in the class go to school by bus ?
I tried to add 2/5 + 1/2 =9/10 to find the number of kids on the bus. Not sure how to answer this question.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
B%2BG=2P
Since there are as many boys as girls,
B=G=P
So then the number of kids that go by bus is,
%282%2F5%29P%2B%281%2F2%29P=%284%2F10%29P%2B%285%2F10%29P=%289%2F10%29P
The total number of kids is 2P so the fraction that go by bus is,
F=%28%289%2F10%29P%29%2F%282P%29
F=9%2F20
