You can put this solution on YOUR website!
x = number of women

%28number_of_men%29%2F%28number_of_women%29+=+%28number_of_men%29%2F%28number_of_women%29

3%2F5+=+3600%2Fx

3x+=+5%2A3600

3x+=+18000

You can put this solution on YOUR website!

let's men be m and women w
if the ratio of men to women at a class is 3%2F+5, then m%2Fw=3%2F+5

if there are 3600 men, then we have
3600%2Fw=3%2F+5 cross multiply and solve for w

3600%2A5=3w
18000=3w
18000%2F3=w
6000=w
so, there are 6000 women at a class

Let M denote men and W denote women. Then M/W=3/5.
To find the number of women students, simply invert the ratio and multiply by 3600:
(5/3)(3600)=6000 women students (Answer)
