You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The variable Z is directly proportional to X, and inversely proportional to Y.
Z = k*X/Y
---------------
When X is 12 and Y is 4, Z has the value 57.
Solve for "k"
57 = k*12/4
k = 19
----------------
What is the value of Z when X = 18, and Y = 10
Z = 19*X/Y
Z = 19*18/10 = 34.2
-----------------------

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
if the variable Z is directly proportional to Xand inversely proportional to Y, then highlight%28Z=kX%2FY%29
When X+=12 and Y=4,+Z+=57:
Your first sentence: Z=kX%2FY

solve for k:
k=ZY%2FX

Your second sentence indicates:
k=57%2A4%2F12
k=57%281%2F3%29
k=19

since the formula for Z is:
highlight%28Z=19Y%2FX%29
then the value of+Z, when X+=+18 and Y+=+10, will be:
Z=19X%2FY
Z=19%2A18%2F10
Z=342%2F10
Z=34.2
