You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Hi there,
Make one of the numbers = 'x'
So, x and x + 5
Difference between their squares is 165
(x + 5)^2 - (x)^2 = 165
x^2 + 10x + 25 - x^2 = 165
Collect like terms
x^2 - x^2 + 10x = 165 - 25
10x = 140
x = 14
Proof:
(19)^2 - (14)^2 = 165
361 - 196 = 165
165 = 165
Hope this helps:-)
