We need to add all these fractions together but to do that we need a common denominator.

So multiply each of the fractions by something to equal 40.
1%2F8+%2A+5%2F5 and 2%2F5+%2A+8%2F8and 3%2F10+%2A+4%2F4
5/40, 16/40, and 12/40.
Add all these together to get
33/40
Now 40%2F40+-+33%2F40
We get 7/40
So 7/40ths of the surveyed chose winter.
